Venezuela’s Alyz Henrich was Saturday crowned Miss Earth 2013. The runners-up are Miss Austria, who was crowned Miss Air, Miss Thailand won the Miss Water title and Miss Fire went to Miss Korea.
Henrich defeated 88 contestants including Miss India Sobhita Dhulipala, who couldn’t make it to top 16 at the 13th edition of the pageant held at Versailles Palace in Alabang.
This is the second time the title has been given to a beauty from Venezuela. Alexandra Braun had won the pageant in 2005.
Miss Earth 2012 Tereza FajksovÃ¡ from Czech Republic crowned Henrich. Made of recycled precious metals and more, the crown was designed by environmentalist and jewelry designer Ramona Haar.
Alyz Henrich from Venezuela works as a modeling professor and holds a BA degree in Social Communication. She is well versed with both Spanish and Italian and had moved to Italy at age 18 to pursue her career as a model. During the Miss Venezuela 2012 pageant, Alyz finished as 2nd-runner up, earning the title Miss Venezuela Earth 2012 gaining the right to represent her country in Miss Earth 2013 competition.
Narrowed down from top 16, the top 8 comprised Austria, Korea, Mexico, Thailand, Poland, Philippines, Venezuela and Serbia. The 16 semi finalists included Austria, Turkey, Korea, Chile, Mexico, France, Mauritius, Thailand, Spain, Poland, USA, Philippines, South Africa, Venezuela, Serbia, and China.
The evening took off with a grand performance by Emmy Nominated Singer David Pomeranz. Miss Earth is the oldest International beauty pageant and an eminent panel of jury made the selection process tougher for the contestants. The list of winners are as follows.
